In Sacramento, I had lunch at Cousin Georgia’s house. She inspires me. Georgia, age 88, is my first cousin, she’s a widow like me, and she travels solo! Every year, Georgia takes 2 cruises… by herself! I loved being with her.
Lake Minden was my next camping spot. It’s a pretty little lake in the farmlands north of Sacramento. These were all back-in camping spots. I’m not that great at backing up, but a kind campground neighbor guided me in.
The following day, I unhitched the trailer and drove up Hwy 99 to Yuba City for some car maintenance (more about that in a later post). I was surprised to find roosters, chickens and baby chicks roaming around Kohl’s parking lot and planters! A quick Google search says they have been part of Yuba City’s downtown for some 30 years.
The next morning, I got an early start because it would be a long day of driving. Towing over the Shasta grade was hard and I wondered why I hadn’t considered a smaller trailer. There were no fires in that area when I drove through. As I crossed the state line, my GPS startled me with WELCOME TO OREGON!
